Fr. Dick O’Driscoll: 1931- 2021

Fr. Dick went home to be with the Lord, whom he had served so faithfully for so many years, on the Second Sunday of Lent.

Fr. Dick was a pioneer of Charismatic Renewal, serving as priest alongside Rev. Dennis Bennett at St. Luke’s Seattle from 1967 and doing much to spread the blessing of the experience, known as the “Baptism in the Holy Spirit “, both across America and internationally. It was always a privilege to listen to Fr. Dick share about the moving of the Holy Spirit across all parts of God’s Church in those early days of “Renewal “.  He was also a natural evangelist and loved nothing better than sharing Jesus with everyone he met.

He was incardinated into the United Anglican Church Province II in 2004, since when Abp. Sean served as his Bishop and he and Shade his wife visited Woking on several occasions with various members of their family.

The picture below is of Abp. Sean and Gill, together with Fr. Dick, Shade and one of their children, Joanna, the last time they were together in the summer of 2019.

Fr. Dick’s interment is Tuesday 9th March. Abp. Sean will sadly not be able to preside at the service due to the current travel restrictions but will be recording a message to be played.

Grateful for the Communion of Saints, we will nevertheless greatly miss Fr. Dick and pray for Shade and the family at this time in their personal loss.
